The NSFA’s Industry Leadership Council

Over the course of his career, Major D. Hammett, II, has raised over $41 million for educational foundations and public schools through an innovative restaurant and dining card. A graduate of Missouri State University, Major Hammett currently serves as the founder and owner of K8 Funding in Independence, Missouri, which he founded in 2013.

In addition to his direct work in school funding, Mr. Hammett conducted a school foundation director training with the National School Foundation Association (NSFA). Since its founding in 2008, the NSFA has represented the interests of member educational foundations and worked to provide equitable access to education for public school students. The organization also provides training programs for education foundation executives, and involves members through its Industry Leadership Council.

The leadership council allows industry leaders to act as ambassadors for the organization in order to promote engagement and diversity of thought. Program ambassadors must complete a selection process prior to beginning service, which lasts 3 years. In addition to providing input on NSFA membership issues, ambassadors solicit input and feedback from their peers while building the NSFA brand across their states.
